Spring Oils Order Notes

The order is completely packed and ready to go out tomorrow morning.  While pouring the oils last week, I made a few notes about some of them which I would like to share.

First is the St. Johnswort;  with its soft and very balanced aroma, this is an oil that holds many secrets!  It is becoming known as an essential oil for relieving the pain of fibromyalgia.  It can be diluted with coconut or jojoba, and applied to painful places.  It is anti-inflammative, and stops muscle aches.  It can be applied in a hot compress to the spine for relieving pain all over the body; and I have seen people take it internally for the same purpose, in a semi-homeopathic dose.

Athletes are beginning to find it too--it can be taken orally before a stressful event, and will actually prevent or reduce muscle soreness form over use in the next day or two.  This batch is fresh and light, and very beautiful--I know you will enjoy it.

Petitgrain sur fleurs (petitgrain with flowers), will provide a great opportunity--provided you open it and take in the aroma soon.  It is still very fresh from distillation, and has had very little time to "set", so you will smell the green and raw notes from the still.  As you continue to inhale, the heart notes will reveal a beautiful floral array that will continue to mellow out and grow over the next few weeks, as the oil settles and the still's influence fades.  This one is going to be an aromatically superior production, I feel already from past experience!  Take advantage of smelling it right away so you can experience how a "green" oil changes as it ages.

Melissa.  One of my all time favorite oils to use in the spring.  We had access to only a small amount;  thankfully we were able to fill everyone's orders, as it is completely sold out from our distiller.  This oil, also known as Lemon Balm, is one of the most powerful antiviral oils known to man.  Michael and I began to use it as a spinal compress early in the spring, in a blend I have listed below.

Because viruses tend to go dormant and hang out in the spine, AND because viruses tend to also hang out in the liver,  we felt that spring would be a great time to do anti-viral treatments.  We are on the third week of treatments, and I feel really great!  Give this recipe a try for anyone who is experiencing viral infections, influenza, herpes outbreaks, etc.  It is so effective!  It is also effective for healing warts; don't add the coconut oil for this purpose.  You must apply it every day religiously, for several weeks--but it has always worked eventually for my clients.

Spring Anti-viral Blend for Spinal Compress (GREAT for massage, too!)

  • Melissa  4 drops
  • Ravensare 20 drops
  • Spike lavender or Thuja  6 drops (whichever one you prefer)
  • Mix them together and add 2 teaspoons (about 10 ml) of unheated, filtered coconut oil.  Apply to the spine and cover with a hot damp towel; follow with another dry towel.  Let it sit for 15 minutes, or until it begins to get cool.  The oil should be completely absorbed into the skin by the time the heat fades.

Foraha--another of my favorites--is really effective for helping to heal the perineum after birth; and for relieving hemorrhoids, scars, and surface wounds.  It has antibacterial and antiviral properties of its own, and makes a good carrier oil for oils that are even more potent in this arena.  Its emollient property also makes it a good treatment for many skin issues, rashes, etc.  I like it for my hands right after doing dishes, to keep them feeling soft and alive.  I have used it to help many people heal athlete's foot too, especially when combined with other oils such as ravensare, geranium, tea tree, spike lavender, etc.

Enjoy your spring oils, and feel free to share your discoveries and successes here!

Kathryn
