Beautiful Oil Additions

Hi there,

I just want to highlight a little information about a couple of the new oils that we are offering on this order.

Grindelia  (also known as Gum weed or Gum plant) (Grindelia squarrossa)

Native American peoples have used Gum plant for medicinal purposes throughout time.  It was used to treat bronchial and respiratory issues and diseases, skin rashes--especially poison ivy and allergic reactions.  In the early 19th century, it was recognized by the current medical culture as a major therapeutic and medicinal herb.  It was listed in the Pharmacopoeia  of the United States from 1882 to 1926.  Modern herbalists still use this plant to treat certain disorders.

It is useful in treating asthma, and respiratory issues where there is obstruction or phlegm in the airways.  This oil has a relaxing effect on the muscles lining the small bronchial passages, and can help relieve mucus and obstruction.

Grindelia is also believed to desensitize the nerve endings in the bronchial tree, and to slow the heart beat, which leads for easier breathing for those with emphysema and other pulmonary disorders.

It has also been used to speed the process of healing of burns and other skin injuries, much like lavender.

This plant was so effective in healing whooping cough and bronchitis, that there is still a synthetic medicine produced by drug companies today that are prescribed for these diseases!

Blue Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis)

Hemlock is a "climax species",  that it is the final species to grow in a woodland's evolution.  Hemlock grows taller and longer than any other trees.  If there were no human interference, and no natural disasters, our forests would be dark woodlands of towering hemlock!

Hemlock tips are filled with Vitamin C, and the tea made from them can be equated with Gatorade and Emergen-C; electrolyte replacement drinks (without the added flavorings and sugars!).  The essential oil carries the ability to relieve fatigue, ward off thirst and hunger, and ward off colds and flu by boosting the immune system.

The Spirit of Hemlock is considered a benevolent being, and those who sleep under a hemlock tree are blessed with comfort and protection, according to Indigenous American lore.  It is a fantastic massage oil, opening muscular blockage and increasing circulation; and by diffusing this amazing oil, we can access a level of peace and protection in our environments that is like being in a giant forest of protective beings!  It is anti-microbial and strengthening to the whole human body and energy system.

I find it combines particularly nicely with lime, vanilla, and most of the citruses, for a very clean and light atmosphere.

Many Blessings!

Kathryn
